Agena Park Bullfighting
Agena, Gushikawa City
Those of you who are not quite up to the challenge of running with the bulls in Pamplona may want to be a spectator at an Okinawan bullfight. These contests are quite different from Western-style bullfights: Two bulls face each other in a ring in a classic battle of brute strength and endurance; the bull to give in first loses, and no animals are killed. Bullfights are held in this park almost every weekend. |
Directions:
| From Naha, take the Okinawa Expressway towards Nago. Exit at Okinawa-kita and make a left towards Ikento. Continue until you are at the Kadena Gate 3 intersection, and then make a right. Continue past Camp Shields and the Southeast Botanical Gardens sign. At the next light, turn left onto Route 329 heading towards Ishikawa. Turn right onto Route 8 towards Yonagusuku. Once you come to the Agena intersection, turn left onto Route 75. Take another left on Route 224 before the bridge going over the Tengan River and follow the curve to the left. Before you get to the green and white building, turn right and go about 5 kilometers down the narrow road to parking.
