Cape Hedo
Hedo, Kunigami Village

Cape Hedo is the northernmost point of Okinawa’s main island. From here you can enjoy one of the most breathtaking views on island. You’ll see both the Pacific and the East China Sea in one glance from the 230-foot-high cliffs. At the tip of Cape Hedo stands a Memorial Tower commemorating the reversion of Okinawa to Japan. The monument is simply inscribed with the words, "Present People of Japan and the World." Cape Hedo, along with Manza Mo, is one of the few sites on Okinawa that is considered almost sacred ground due to the many people who died there during World War II. Only about a 30-45 minute drive from Okuma Resort, you should visit this spot at least once while on Okinawa.

Facilities: Restaurant, snack bar, gift shop.

Directions: From Kadena Air Base make a right out Gate 1 and head north on Highway 58 towards Nago. (It will take you about one hour to get Nago.) Continue on thru Nago towards Okuma Beach, and you will see signs for Cape Hedo (Hedo Misaki). Cape Hedo is approximately 45 minutes north of Okuma. As you continue north, you will pass through three tunnels. As you exit the last tunnel, you will head up the hill and pass a large bridge. Ahead of the bridge is an intersection with no traffic light. Turn left, and you will and when you come to the end of the road, you will be at Cape Hedo. (Just remember: If think you are lost, keep on Highway 58 all the way.)
