Café Curcuma  (Ethnic )
1190 Chinen, Nanjo City, Okinawa

In the south east corner of Okinawa’s main island is a delightful little location café by the name of Curcuma. Commanding a phenomenal view of the turquoise ocean, Curcuma is close to the ruins of the ancient Chinen Castle and Seifa Utaki considered to be a sacred religious site. Something that really sets Curcuma apart from the competition is the outstanding quality of the food served. The Thai chef is a master of Asian cuisine and creates exquisite dishes with locally grown vegetables and with an emphasis on fresh, Asian herbs. Apart from orthodox Thai fare such as green, red and yellow curries, you can try originals like Typhoon Curry, Indonesian and Malaysian curries, and more. Some popular items are Thai-style yakitori (grilled chicken skewers), the house special of 3 different Asian curries, and a rich and tasty tom yum kung. The chef recommends his garlic-butter grilled fish and his distinctive Thai noodle dish pad-thai. Definitely worth a try when you visit!

Hours: 10:00~22:00 (last order 21:00) [*Tuesdays: 10:00~18:00 (last order 17:00)]

Directions: To get there from KAB, take the R329 south, turn left onto the R331, then turn right onto R86. Curcuma is down a narrow road to the left, off R86. A small brown sign bearing the name of the café in Japanese (カフェくるくま) marks the path.
